General Attack March 1, 1949 ( Yogyakarta)

     General Attacks of March 1, 1949 that occurred at Yogyakarta is a form of struggle within the Indonesian people

defend the Indonesian homeland from the invaders. 

     General Attack March 1, 1949 was an attack carried out on March 1, 1949 on a massive city of Yogyakarta planned and prepared by the highest military ranks in the Division III / GM III region by including a number of top local civil government leaders based on instructions from the Division III Commander , Col. 

     The main purpose of this attack was to break the morale of the Dutch troops and prove to the international community that the Indonesian National Army (TNI) still had the power to hold resistance.

     Significance of the General Attack March 1, 1949 : 

1. Demonstrating to the international community the existence of the government and TNI is still strong and solid

2. Support for negotiations / diplomacy taking place at the UN

3. Improve the morale of the Indonesian people

4. Breaking down the Dutch forces mentally

5. Maintaining the sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia
